Nick Brandt works exclusively in Africa. In 1992, Brandt moved to the US and made a name for himself directing music videos.

In 1995 he shot the music video for Michael Jackson's Earth Song in Tanzania, and was struck by the beauty of the animals there. He felt that he could not sufficiently express his love for animals other than capturing them on film.

In 2000, he embarked on a project to capture the beauty of East Africa before it disappeared. Since then Brandt has published five books, the latest of which will be released in February 2019.

From the first lyrical representation of animal life in East Africa, Brandt’s work is now entirely focused on denouncing the destruction of the natural world and our fellow creatures.

A selection of pictures from his latest project, This Empty World, will be shown in world-wide preview at Haute Rotterdam.
