Los Angeles, 2013
Even though he was born in Venice, Italy, where photography seems to be limited to snapshots of Piazza San Marco, the city did stimulate Renato D’ Agostin to take up the camera. The atmosphere of city life nourished his curiosity to capture seemingly insignificant moments from everyday life and to use the power of photography to make them into a subject of importance.
Since 2002 he has journeyed through Europeand to New York, where he became the assistant to renowned photographer Ralph Gibson. Dislocating subjects from their realities, D’Agostin depicts his perception of the space around him, the relationship between architecture and people, opening a new portal in the spectator’s imagination.
