Yoshinori Mizutani is a young, prolific and innovative photographer using his extensive pallet of photographic techniques to present specific interpretations and perspectives on everyday phenomena. His project Sakura is about cherry blossoms, which Mizutani spends much time looking at. Facing a sakura tree, his eyes shift from one petal to another, from one flower to another until the whole picture is grasped. The series is his attempt to visualise the move of his observing eyes and to crystalise the visual experience of meditating and wandering upon the blooming tree. As a result, the images show that photography captures not only a specific moment, but also the passing of time.
