Haute Photographie, Rotterdam 2025 Edition
ABOUT THE FAIR
SINCE 2015
In 2015, we organized the first edition of Haute Photographie in Rotterdam. On the Wilhelminakade, right next to the Nederlands Fotomuseum, we created a five-day event with the atmosphere and presence of a museum. Instead of standard fair booths, each photographer was given a five-meter-wide wall to present their unique signature style. This marked a radical shift in the art fair model: the focus moved from the gallery to the artist, placing the photographer and their vision at the very center.
The concept quickly evolved and gained popularity. We relocated to a new space in Rotterdam’s creative M4H district and eventually expanded to Amsterdam. In September 2022, we opened the first Haute Photographie Amsterdam, right on Museumplein. Today, we organize two editions every year: in Rotterdam during the winter, as part of Rotterdam Art Week, and in September in Amsterdam. In 2025, the Amsterdam edition was given a new name: The Hungry Eye Fair.
While both cities share the same DNA of creating a museum-like art fair, each edition has developed its own character. In Rotterdam, the focus lies on discovering and presenting new photographic talent, offering a platform for emerging voices to connect with collectors, galleries, and the wider public. In Amsterdam, the approach is edgier and more experimental, emphasizing innovation in both the medium and technique. Here, visitors encounter bold, boundary-pushing works that question and expand the possibilities of photography today.
The Hungry Eye Fair is a boutique art fair with the allure of a museum, fully dedicated to fine art photography. Photography is presented through three temporal lenses: the past (vintage), the present (contemporary), and the future (emerging talent).
More than just an exhibition, the fair creates a total experience. Visitors can enjoy a curated photography book market and a high-quality restaurant alongside the exhibitions. The program offers a rich selection of world-class international photography, while also shining a spotlight on promising new voices in the field.
Each edition transforms industrial spaces in Amsterdam’s vibrant North and Rotterdam’s harbor area into a temporary museum. The Hungry Eye Fair runs for five days, opening on Wednesday with an invite-only preview before welcoming the wider public. Designed for both seasoned collectors and curious enthusiasts, it offers an immersive, inspiring journey through the art of photography.
